At about 20K I lost the steering completely, and there was a trail of oil behind me and all over the engine. While perusing the Service Manual for my 07 GC CRD, I found a listing and picture for a oil temp sensor. Has anyone been able to tap in to this to get a reading on an oil temp gauge? The pic shows it located at the rear of the oil pan. I bought the DashHawk mainly to read oil press/temp, but those talltale said: While towing my 6600 lb trailer my transmission runs at 195-205. My engine oil temp has run as high as 257 while towing the trailer up a 12 mile long 6% grade at 50 mph with an OAT of 60F. FYI. There is a bleed screw on the filter for when you change it so would be best to do it that way (but you will need a pipe going to a jug don't just open it (see my post on oil change)). but it will bleed itself as it has a very good lift pump in the tank. been there done that. 6) Almost done. Now you just need to clean out the residue oil in the oil filter housing. Once cleaned you can now put the fresh oil in the jeep. I put 5 quarts in the oil filler and the other 5 quarts in thru the oil filter housing.
